IRCS Expresses Gratitude to its Blood Donors

This year’s theme for World Blood Donor Day 2009 is “Achieving 100 percent non-remunerated donation of blood and blood components”. Experts on blood services emphasized unanimously in a seminar hosted by the IRCS, “This can be achieved by blood donor motivation, retention of regular voluntary donors and motivation of replacement donors to become voluntary.”

In the same seminar Dr. S. P. Agarwal, Secretary General, IRCS stated, “The IRCS Blood Bank at National Headquarters has already achieved 84 percent non-remunerated voluntary donation of blood. More»

According to World Health Organization around 1.1 billion people globally do not have access to improved water supply sources whereas 2.4 billion people do not have access to any type of
improved sanitation facility. About 2 million people die every year due to diarrhoeal diseases and most of them are children less than 5 years of age. These figures can flabbergast anyone and everyone. The situation worsens if there is a disaster. Perennial flooding is a common phenomenon not only for India but also in neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh and Nepal. More»
