Cyclone Montha Emergency Response Update
Date of Update: 28 October 2025
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather alert as Cyclone Montha advances north-northwestwards. The cyclone is expected to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast—between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, near Kakinada—within the next few hours. Classified as a Severe Cyclonic Storm, Montha is forecasted to bring wind speeds of 90–100 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 110 kmph.
Andhra Pradesh Red Cross Activates Emergency Response
In anticipation of the cyclone’s impact, the Andhra Pradesh Red Cross Society (AP RCS) has mobilized its volunteer network across all coastal districts. With landfall expected tonight, significant damage is anticipated across several vulnerable regions.
