The IRCS Bags the Henry Dunant Medal
The VIIth Asia and Pacific Regional Conference of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies was held in Singapore from November 19th to 23rd 2006. It became a memorable event for the Red Cross Societies of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and India as they were honoured with the highest honour, the Henry Dunant prestigious Medal by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
The Standing Commission of the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement bestowed the award to the Societies for the work of their volunteers and staff following 2004 tsunami.
Dr. S.P. Agarwal, Secretary General IRCS accepted award on behalf of 12 million volunteers/members and staff who are committed towards the Red Cross and Red Crescent ideals and would continue assisting the victims at the time of disasters.
