P.G. Diploma Course: 8th Batch Started

The 8th batch of P.G. Diploma Course in Disaster Preparedness and Rehabilitation was inaugurated on 23rd September 2013.

Indian Red Cross Society, NHQ, is conducting the Part time Post Graduate Diploma course in Disaster Preparedness and Rehabilitation since the year 2006. The course is affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh I P University, New Delhii.

The participants of the 8th course belong to diverse fields such as medicine, engineering, defence, nursing, e-governance, security services, transport, non-governmental organizations etc. They exuded interest in the course and exhibited enthusiasm on getting selected for the year long programme. Majority of the participants were keen to offer their expertise and services during disasters after obtaining the diploma.

Dr. S.P. Agarwal, Secretary General of the Society and Course Director welcomed the participants and congratulated them on their selection to the course. He also informed that the students of earlier batches are in touch with each other and an alumni meet was organised on the 1st September, 2013 during which homage was paid to one of the participants of the
7th course Shri Nityanand Gupta, Commander, NDRF who lost his life during the rescue efforts in Uttarakhand flood in a helicopter crash. He added that students trained earlier have been taking part in rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts in times of calamity in the country.
